MTLEY CRE's TOMMY LEE Recalls Band's Early Days (Video)
August 19, 2011Revolver TV spoke to MTLEY CRE drummer Tommy Lee last night (Thursday, August 18) on the red carpet for the Sunset Strip Music Festival to discuss the early days of the group. His band was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in April, and, since they are celebrating three decades of tearing up Hollywood this year, the SSMF is honoring them as well. The band will be playing the event tomorrow, and Lee will be performing on a special 360-degree drum roller coaster. Check out what he has to say below.
2011 Elmer Valentine Award honoree MTLEY CRE will return to its roots and close the fourth annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) on Saturday, August 20.
Part back-patting and part roast, guests and friends such as Dane Cook, Ray Manzarek, David Johansen of the NEW YORK DOLLS and Neil Strauss (who co-write a book with the band, "The Dirt") will pay homage to MTLEY CRE at a VIP event at the House of Blues in Hollywood on Thursday night. "I have no idea what they will say, but it's bound to be sometimes serious, sometimes funny and also probably shocking," MTLEY CRE drummer Tommy Lee told the Los Angeles Times.
Each year, West Hollywood's world-famous Sunset Strip celebrates its rich musical history and influence with the Sunset Strip Music Festival, a three-day event that features a variety of artists throughout its venues culminating with an open air street festival on its last day. This year's event takes place Thursday, August 18, Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20.
On Saturday, August 20, Sunset Boulevard will be closed to traffic between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard and will be transformed into a premier concert destination with outdoor stages, beer gardens, a VIP lounge, food trucks, interactive experiences and live performances within the venues during the day until 1-2 a.m.
